A French Tart

I’m dealing with a glut of apples and pears this year so I thought I’d experiment with my favourite apple tart recipe. Simple Tarte Tatin This upside down apple tart is usually made in 1 large flan tin but I’ve decided to experiment with making individual portion tarts in a silicon muffin tray. Put the…

September 1st Smoothie

It’s a new month, the summer parties are over, now it’s time to get fit and healthy for autumn. I’ve been drinking summer berry smoothies all season, so now I thought I’d try and get back into a few green ones too. This one’s nice and refreshing with a little ‘zing’ from the rocket in…

Raspberry Citrus Crush

Refreshing and a little bit tart. Recipe A handful of frozen raspberries 2 oranges, peel and pips removed 1 large lemon, peel and pips removed 2 ice cubes (crushed or let the blender crush with the fruit) Blend together and drink immediately. Makes 2 smallish glasses.

Tasty 3 Berry & Spinach Juice

I made this juice yesterday and it was really nice, so I thought I’d share it here today. Recipe A handful of baby spinach leaves 3 or 4 large strawberries 12 – 15 Blueberries Cranberry juice Mix all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth-ish. Drink immediately.

Pale Pink Smoothie

Another yummy healthy breakfast (or anytime) smoothie. This time it’s watermelon, raspberries, banana and yoghurt. The frozen raspberries make it nice and chilled….

Raspberry Watermelon Mix

Dates, Nuts and Fizz

My local supermarket, here in Dubai, is gearing up for Ramadan with a special front of store tempting display of all things yummy. There are packs of all kinds of dates, plain dates, gooey dates, dates stuffed with almonds, and the bottles that look like Champagne are a fizzy date drink. The fabulous Arabian fabric…

Breakfast Muddle

A surprise smoothie! Don’t go by looks 🙂 This one looks unappetising but it’s actually really delicious. Invented this morning and so yummy. Try and get the mini bananas for this (sometimes called baby bananas) because they have a much softer and sweeter taste than the ordinary ones. Recipe: 1 orange 1 mini banana (or…

Cucumber Surprise

This really is a surprise because it doesn’t look at all like it’s got cucumber in it! It’s lovely and sweet with a little ‘tang’ from the cucumber. The raspberries give it this lovely pink colour and the red-skinned apple helps too. Recipe: 1 Small cucumber peeled (or 1/3 to 1/2 of a standard one)…
