Twin Set: Tweed

Check handheld and purseI sometimes get asked if we do matching purses to go with our handbag designs and so, this year I’ve started making purses to go with our tweed bags.

Here are a couple of examples. Both these fine lambswool tweed fabrics are from Johnstons of Elgin in the highlands of Scotland. I love the colour in both these tweeds.

Mini Check

The small check has a turquoise background with checks woven in red, navy, cornflower blue and green.I’ve trimmed it with a dark brown calf leather and both styles are lined with a mid brown grosgrain lining.

Turquoise tweed tote setBig Check

The large check material has a lovely subtle depth to the turquoise background, so it’s not just a flat colour. Again, I’ve used a brown leather for the trim.

Both fabrics look great with lots of outfits and tweed can be used to dress up a casual outfit or to dress down a smarter look.

I think these blue based tweeds look particularly good with denim, so put on your jeans and grab your tweed bag this winter!

I make both sizes of bag in both tweeds so if you’re a handheld lady or a shoulder bag girl, there is one for you!
