Pondicherry, (or Pondy) is an Indian town (south of Chennai), influenced by many colonial nations over the last few hundred years. In fact, the French held control there until the mid 1950’s (even after Indian independence!). Many of the locals speak good French, as well as English and Tamil.

It’s a different world!

So, Pondicherry has an amazing history, fabulous architecture and is definitely somewhere you should put on your travel list!

We stayed at Villa Shanti. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Amazing small hotel/guest house. Fabulous food too!
