Hello again from Normandy, France.
If you’re a new visitor here, I’d just like to explain that I do write mostly about handbags… but cycling is also a big passion of mine and so is travelling, so here goes…
Tour de France day 3
Our vantage point today was in the centre of Villedieu-les-Poêles in lower Normandy. It’s a beautiful town and home to the famous Mauviel copper saucepans that chefs all over the world use in their kitchens. Villedieu-les-Poêles literally means ‘God’s town of the saucepans’.
They are pretty famous for church bells too 🙂
There was an early break away rider who arrived 6 or 7 minutes before the rest and the peloton looked relatively relaxed as they came into town.
The church in the background here has some beautiful stained glass windows. Well worth a look.
But today, it’s all about our man Cav again, so I’m not going to bore you with more photos of the caravan or my haul of freebies 🙂
Mark Cavendish in green (most points jersey) in the peloton. I tried to get a good view of the riders coming around the corner, past the church.
And couldn’t resist a better close up of the Cav 🙂
Well done for today’s stage win in Angers, Cav. A career best… now 28 Tour de France stage wins in his career to date. Amazing!
If I’ve got you wondering about the Tour de France, check in again here, or watch the daily highlights on ITV4 in UK at 7pm.
its like having my own on the spot reporter, far better than handbags 🙂
I’m sorry I couldn’t tour France to watch the rest of the Tour. I was just super pleased to get to the 3 opening stages all within less than 30 minutes from my house!
I’m tracking the rest on the app though – it’s very good, I’d recommend it, Mike.
You took some really great photos!
Thank you Anthea
Loved these posts about the Tour, but also looking forward to your handbag posts!!
Thank you Michele 🙂
