My Scottish Wool bags in Wool Week

Thanks to a tweet & a blog post from Hilary Grant, I now realise that this week (5th to 11th September) is Wool Week!

Wool Week is promoted by The Campaign for Wool and they’ve even got a special exhibition on in London, which starts TODAY, until the end of September.

I use a lot of Scottish Tweeds in my designs and with the Autumn approaching I thought I would share a few of my new designs with you in Wool Week.

This season I’m using some traditional fine tweeds from Johnstons of Elgin in muted browns and greens. I trim all the tweed bags and purses with a soft dark brown grainy leather.

I was so excited when the cloth arrived back in February and no sooner were the bags made they were nearly all snapped up by my Scottish stockists.

The Johnstons tweed works well in wallets and purses too because it’s not too thick and bulky. This season I have designed 2 wallet styles and a large zip around purse for ladies.

A trip up to see my Scottish customers in March had me driving through Selkirk when I saw a huge banner outside the Lochcarron Mill shop advertising a cloth sale.

It’s impossible for me to drive past a sign like that, so I parked up and went inside. It was at Lochcarron that I found some fabulous thick Merino wool tweeds in fashion colours – a perfect contrast to the Johnstons cloth. The softness of the Merino in these bags just makes you want to stroke them!

So there we are: a reminder of my Wool bags in Wool Week.
