Meet our Bean Counter: Masthanamma

MasthanammaSay hello to Masthanamma, book keeper and office manager at our workshop in rural India.

I took this picture of her when I was at the workshop last November. She was recording the quantity of leathers we’d bought for my new limited edition Queen B bags.

She might need to have a red bag herself – the red nubuck is a perfect match for her outfit!

Masthanamma came to work with us straight from college where she did a book keeping course. She’s 22 years old and lives in the local village with her parents, Hazarathiah and Rajamma. This is her first job and she has quite a lot of responsibility in the business.

Being a bean counter in a leather handbag business has to be more exciting than working in some other industries, doesn’t it?

Leather workers & Shona & Masthanamma

Sometimes we all get to model a handbag! That’s me on the left and Masthanamma far right with the red Martha shopper. And when we did the photoshoot for Fashion Revolution week, Masthanamma joined in too.

Well the design side and running the business is done where ever I am, Honey (currently France). The making goes on at our workshop in India. We need someone there to look after all the accounts side of things, so that’s Masthanamma.
