Last Friday evening I did something very unusual for the first time: I went to a formal black tie ‘dining in the desert’ event. Situated ‘in the middle of nowhere’ the event was catered from a white van with a chef in the back and lots of assistants helping with the kebab roasting, side dishes and service.
Around 35 of us turned out in evening dresses and black tie or national dress for the men. The funny thing was that instead of high heels, all the ladies had their sensible flat sandals on. Dancing on the sand wasn’t going to be possible in heels!
