Cycling Times

This month I might be posting a lot about cycling. The Tour de France starts tomorrow in Normandy and I’ve planned my cheering spots for the next 3 days.

IMAG1097_1I dont think I’ve written much here about cycling but it was a big passion of mine when I was younger. There’s lots to write about on the subject, like when I started a little business making the club tops for my fellow cyclists.

And the time I watched the Tour de France in Britain on Devils Duke (or was it Ditchling Beacon, anyway it was in Sussex).

My photos from that one aren’t great but they still remind me of the day.

The sponsors cars drive past around 2 hours before the cyclists arrive.

Sometimes you get a freebie!

Watching the professionals on a hilly part of the route is to be recommended, otherwise they’re gone in seconds.

Also, the hills mean that sometimes there’s a break away and you can personally cheer on just one rider.

The peloton isn’t far behind with the yellow jersey in the middle of the pack.

That was more than 25 years ago, so I’m looking forward to seeing the fun again and reporting back here in the next few days.

PS: Brit, Chris Froome will be in the yellow jersey tomorrow because he was the 2015 winner. I hope I can spot him 🙂

I think what Chris Froome has done in the last two years is awesome, particularly given the false accusations that are constantly thrown at him

I had a fabulous time at the Grand Depart from Utrecht last year. It was unbelievable how fast they go!

I know, they are speedy! I’m trying to balance the choice of viewing spot with a hilly part and somewhere nice to have lunch 🙂
Mind you, Manche (department) isn’t exactly hilly!
