When I design a new product I usually plan it with one main use in mind. This is what happened when I designed my bus pass cover. The initial ‘get on with it’ boost came when I was selling my designs at a charity sale in North London. At that particular event I was selling lots of £5-£10 small leather goods such as Pencases, Credit card cases and small purses but several people came and asked if I sold bus pass covers.
People often come and ask me if I sell ‘this’ or ‘that’ and since I can’t design a one off special to cover all these requests, I mostly just say ‘no, sorry I don’t do those’.
This time was different though. To many people were asking for the bus pass (or London transport ‘Oyster’ card) covers – so I decided that I would design one and make it in lots of lovely colours.
Sure enough, at the same charity sale the following year – I sold lots and lots of bus pass covers. I think half of North London must now have one!
But guess what, it’s not just a bus pass/oyster card cover: here are another 4 uses for this item…..
- Student or Union ID card cover
- Photo holder
- Mini wallet (to hold 1 credit card and some folded notes)
- Handy cover for holding stamps & receipts etc
Please add any more if you can think of any! Thank you!
My favourite colour is the Fuchsia one!
