Anyone been to Zekreet?
The Zekreet peninsular is over in the west of Qatar, about 80km from the capital Doha. The nearest town is Dukhan but there’s not a lot there, so if you plan to visit Zekreet, take a 4 wheel drive, plenty of water and a picnic.
This is taken from Google maps, a section through the middle of Qatar, showing Doha bottom right and the Zekreet peninsular top left (sort of like an upside down Italy).
It is worth the trip for the views and the amazing vast nothingness of the rocky desert there. Also, if you stay until sunset you can watch it over the Arabian Gulf.
The pink Martha shopper #BagsOnTour at an area called ‘Film City’ in Zekreet. It’s very barren, not a tree in sight in this part.
No bags in this photo but it was interesting to see the (fake) ruins that are presumably used as film sets. I haven’t been able to find out which films though!
Short and sweet for Z today. Next time I go through the Alphabet, perhaps someone would kindly go to Zambia with one of my bags to get a pic 🙂
PS: Thanks for reading my A-Z of travelling handbags, I’ve really enjoyed compiling this series!
I’ve enjoyed how you have been able to through the A-Z and am working on how i can make something similar for my niche
Thanks Mike. It actually really helped – it was like having a list of what to blog about next, making it much easier than other 26 on the trot days!
