Dubai Festival of Lights: Part 3

A few more of my photos from Downtown Dubai’s Festival of Lights which took place at the end of March.

At the entrance to the Souk al Bahar, there was an audio visual feast lasting 10 minutes or more. Many different moving images were projected onto the entry gate with the whole artistic project being entitled Vertigo.

Balloons on Palace 610

Of the whole show, my favourite was the image of these colourful balloons moving slowly across the walls of the gate.

On the opposite side of the Boulevard another moving image lit up the side of one of the ‘Old Town’ hotels.

Vegetalization: by Artist and lighting designer Richard Fontaine

Al Manzil 610

The Al Manzil Hotel had this floral mural literally ‘growing’ up it’s walls as you watched it. I wonder what the residents of the rooms behind the lights thought of the green hue entering their windows?

View over the Lake

The last photo I want to share was taken from the lake side walkway at the base of the Burj Khalifa. Looking over the water towards the installations of  Ombrellum (which I posted about recently) and Big Tree.

Boulevard towers 3 610

The lights from the Artworks and the lit up windows of the flats high above give an indication of the immense scale of the whole festival.

All the installations can be viewed here, with descriptions of the work and it’s creators.
