Competition: Win a Luxury Leather case

Some time ago I wrote about the many uses for various small leather items in my collection. A purse is not just a purse, as I say, it can have many uses. My simplest designs are the best for this and I’ve written about some of them here before. You might want to check out this one.

Crochet hooks with pencasesNot just a Pencase

Today I’m giving away 5 pencases (not just a pencase) to the 5 best comments I get below this post. Please tell me what you would use your winning case for and why I should pick you as a winner.

I posted some examples ofย uses for this design before, so if you have a brand new use, I’d especially love to hear it ๐Ÿ™‚

To help you out, the size of this design is 17cm x 5cm x 1cm and the zip opens up along the top and down one side. This design is one of my best sellers – and I think some people have multiple colours of them to keep different things in.

My latest idea for a great use for this case is for crochet hooks. I’ve designed bags that people tell me they love to keep their knitting in so when I noticed that this design is just the right size for a crochet hook, I thought I’d write about it here.

So, I’m looking forward to hearing from you! Please comment here.

The 5 winners will be announced on Monday 25th July and your prize will be posted to you next week.ย A UK address will be needed in order to receive your prize if you’re selected as a winner.

Good Luck!

Looks like a very handy size for my ‘geeky’ iPhone accessories like headphones, portable USB charger and cables, iFlash memory boost stick and pen drive so they are together in one place and not tangled up in my handbag!

It’s a great geeky accessory, Laura. Thanks for your suggestions.

Another great idea for a specific use. Thanks Julie x

    What lovely pencases!
As a diabetic I’ve just been told it’s likely I shall have to move from medication to insulin. How much nicer it would be to carry an emergency supply in a lovely spring green case! A sign of a new beginning rather feeling despondent about it!

    Congratulations on an attractive product.

      July 22, 2016 | 1:30 pm

Thanks for your comments Elizabeth. I’ve already heard that these cases are perfect for the insulin pens that need to be with you at all times. I’m glad it can do such a useful job and the brighter the better so you can find it quickly when it’s needed ๐Ÿ™‚

Crochet hooks would be very popular. If I had a leather case like this I’d put the TV remote in it because I’m always losing it, and it’s black and can’t be found anywhere. The brightly coloured case would mean I’d never lose it again ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Shona Easton
      July 22, 2016 | 1:28 pm

Thanks Sarah. Great idea as long as your TV remote is super slim… otherwise I might be able to recommend a different design ๐Ÿ™‚

An unusual use, but when one of us has to go to the dentist from the office, We would normally take a toothbrush & paste to work in a plastic bag to enable us to “brush-up” before the visit. A “pen” case would be ideal for these two items.
    Chris

Brilliant. Another new idea. I hadn’t thought of that one Chris.

I’d use for my pocket sized hand sanitizer gel that I keep in my bag. The bag is huge and it’s what I use in my work as a breastfeeding counsellor and contains all sorts of leaflets, forms, gloves, a knitted breast, doll etc. It’s good practice to sterlise your hands before you handle a baby, not that I do that often but sometimes I might want to see inside the baby’s mouth if I’m checking for a tongue tie. I’m always losing my gel at the bottom of the bag so it would be great to keep it in a lovely bright colour so I never lose it again!

    • Shona Easton
      July 22, 2016 | 1:26 pm

This particular case may not be quite deep enough – but I have others that would ๐Ÿ™‚ Great idea though, it’s so much easier to find things when they are housed in a bright colour.

  12. Sherry Bevan
    July 22, 2016 | 8:17 am

The other thing I’m always rummaging around in my ‘other’ bag are my flipchart pens.

    • Shona Easton
      July 22, 2016 | 1:26 pm

      That’s a new one. Thanks!

  13. Julia Skinner
    July 22, 2016 | 9:04 am

Well of course, one will just not be enough!
I’ve just started an adult colouring calendar so my special pencils could go into it.

We are off on holiday next week and my make-up bag takes up too much room but one of those colourful bags would be ideal for the essential bits I need to take like mascara.

Like Sherry I give talks and it would make me look so much more sophisticated taking one of those bright containers out of my bag rather than scrabbling around in my bag.

    • Shona Easton
      July 22, 2016 | 1:24 pm

For me it would be very handy for putting my iPad VGA and HDMI converters in, stopping them getting crunched and having to replace them every 6 months at ยฃ40.oo a time. I use an unglamerous plastic container at the moment ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Shona Easton

And for the special pen you’ll need for signing copies of your book, Julie ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Sherry Bevan
    July 22, 2016 | 8:30 pm

The other idea I just had … we dog sit. It would be lovely to have something to carry the dogsitting paraphenalia: doggy treats for walks and poop bags for, well poop.

And my other great idea if the hand gel wouldn’t fit (it’s only a narrow bottle though), would be the spare batteries for my camera. My camera usually sits in my handbag with my (sadly no longer) knitted breast and the batteries are just chucked in and again, I’m rummaging around. I LOVE photography and sometimes get through more than a couple of batteries in a day, especially if I’m at an event.

Doggy treats, perfect! Why didn’t I think of that? Love it, Sherry ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Caroline Ferguson
    July 22, 2016 | 8:35 pm

    They’re gorgeous!

I would proudly show off a brightly-coloured case to hold my micro gadgets and spare batteries when I go to speaking gigs. For example: memory stick for my presentation, slide clicker (which I’m always losing) and my tiny wee voice recorder plus spare batteries.

I’d also use one as an “emergency comfort essentials” pack for items like lipsyl, a couple of tissues, wet wipe and hand sanitiser sachets, pant liner and a spare ยฃ10 note.

    • Shona Easton
      July 24, 2016 | 4:48 am

Brilliant! That’s 2 you need already then, Caroline ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Denise Rawls
    July 22, 2016 | 9:03 pm

I would keep my camera lens cover it it! I am totally paranoid about loosing it. I could slip a spare battery and storage card in there too. Perfect for finding in a silly big bag.
