After completing my recent trade show in Dubai, I decided a little time off for sight-seeing was allowed. What better way to see this amazing modern city than from the world’s tallest building?

At the Top

The skyscrapers nearby look tiny in comparison to where I am.

The Burj Khalifa

The tallest building in the world stands at 830m tall. It has 163 floors! The observation deck on floor 124 offers a 360 degree view of the surrounding city as well as views out to sea and across the nearby desert. Half of it is outside (eek!) and with a glass barrier down to floor level, you can actually look almost straight downwards!

A view downThe photo above is a view downwards, towards the Dubai Fountain, with the lower part of the (skyscraper) Address Hotel on the top left and the old style, low rise Palace Hotel on the mid/right.

To the desertA view across the top part of the Address Hotel and the downtown area towards the desert. Just a few kilometres and you’re in the sand. And just 20 years ago, none of this was here, it was all desert!

It’s amazing to think how quickly Dubai has grown into an international high rise city and it’s still evolving.

I’m sure there will be more to come on this subject but right now I’m inspired by my recent visit to the top of this amazing building.
