Last Minute Pasta Salad

Today, I’ve mostly been cooking – so that’s what I’m sharing this afternoon. This last minute pasta salad is to take to a barbeque tonight chez friends here in France. I say last minute because I’ve already made a tomato salad and coleslaw for the same party but decided maybe I ought to contribute more,…

Birthday Smoothie

It’s someone’s birthday today (not mine) so I made a special birthday smoothie this morning. This one probably gives you 3 of your ‘5 a day’ if you’re into that sort of thing 🙂 It’s really refreshing and yummy. Recipe: 3 slices of watermelon 1/4 of a galia melon 1 nectarine 1 cup summer berries…

Zesty Smoothie

Eaten too much over the holidays? I made this super smoothie the other day from leftover fruit and it was so zesty and yummy, I thought I’d share it here. Recipe 2 Clementines peeled 1 and a half lemons juiced 1 small banana About 15 green grapes About 1/2 a cup of fresh apple juice…

Fruit Bowl Smoothie

Here’s a tasty and easy smoothie from your fruit bowl basics. It’s quite thick but you can thin it down by adding a little cold water. This makes enough for 1 glass, double or triple the recipe for 2 or more. Recipe: 1 Orange, peel and remove the stones 1 Lemon, peel and remove the stones 1/2…

Grape Smoothie

What do you drink in the morning? I used to buy ‘posh’ juices and smoothies (very expensive), then I went onto fresh oranges, lemons and grrapfruit, juiced every morning. That was nice but always the same and quite a lot of cleaning up afterwards. Then, I bought a second hand blender from a friend who…

Apple Berry Smoothie

This is one of my winter smoothie specials. It’s easy to make with frozen berries. Recipe 300 ml fresh apple juice A handful of frozen mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries, black and redcurrants) 1/2 a banana 1 tablespoon natural yoghurt Blend all ingredients together and enjoy. This makes 2 glasses.

Apple & Orange Smoothie

This one is lovely and fresh tasting in the middle of winter. Recipe: 2 oranges, peeled and pips removed 1 apple, peeled and cored A little fresh apple juice 1 individual pot natural yoghurt Blend all ingredients together and serve immediately. Serves 2.

Breakfast: This one’s naughty but nice!

Crispy smoked bacon with French toast and maple syrup. Definitely best made with brioche. Recipe: (per person) 3 rashers thinly cut smoked streaky bacon 2 slices of brioche 1 large egg Maple syrup Grill the bacon until crisp, soak the brioche in beaten egg and fry until golden on both sides. Serve all together and…

Melon Pear & Orange Smoothie

A lovely sweet breakfast smoothie. Recipe: 1/3 to 1/2 a Charantais melon 1 cup orange juice 1 large pear, peeled and cored 2 or 3 ice cubes Mix all ingredients together in a blender and drink immediately. Serves 2.

Pear Smoothie

Hello. If you’ve seen my recent photos on Facebook and Instagram, you will have noticed that I’m dealing with a lot of pears (and apples) right now. We inherited 4 beautiful espaliered old and knarled pear trees, in Normandy, France, about 7 years ago and I’m still learning how to care for the trees as…
